Privacy Policy
Penny (OpenFemly) · Last updated: 11 October 2026
Penny is a private household assistant run by Alexander Rydekull for his own family, on his own server at home in Sweden. It is not a commercial service and is not offered to the public. This policy explains what Penny does with data from Google accounts it is connected to. Today that is one account: Alexander's own.
What Penny accesses
- Gmail, read-only (
gmail.readonly). Penny can't send, delete or change mail. - Google Calendar, read and write (
calendar), to read events and to add or remove events when asked.
What Penny does with it
- About every 20 minutes during the day, Penny reads new messages (promotions, social and spam are skipped). For each message, the sender, subject, date and the first part of the text are processed to pick out things the account owner may want to know about: appointments, deliveries, bills and subscription renewals. These are offered to the account owner as suggestions. Penny never acts on an e-mail by itself.
- When the account owner asks, Penny searches the mailbox or calendar and answers the question.
- Calendar events are created or removed only when the account owner asks.
Who processes it
- Penny runs on a private server in the account owner's home. Data extracted from e-mail (the suggestions above) and the IDs of messages already processed are stored there. Full e-mails are not stored.
- To understand e-mail text and answer questions, Penny uses Anthropic's Claude AI service. The e-mail content described above is sent to Anthropic for processing under Anthropic's terms.
- No data is sold, shared with advertisers, or used for advertising. Nothing is shared with anyone else.
Google API Services User Data Policy
Penny's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data
Extracted suggestions are kept until they're dealt with or deleted. The account owner can disconnect Penny at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and can ask for everything Penny stored to be deleted.
